Role Description
We are looking for a hands-on ERP Implementation Lead with strong experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) to support a global finance transformation initiative.
This role is designed for someone who can grow into a system design / architecture role, not just implementation. Our organisation is scaling across multiple regions, and we are building a unified system foundation that can support future growth, increasing operational complexity, and external reporting requirements. This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of ERP design and play a central role in building an internal ERP capability from the ground up. The position could starts as a freelance/contract engagement, with the potential to transition into a full-time role.
This role includes:
End-to-end ownership of ERP (D365 F&O)
Opportunity to design a multi-entity global finance structure from scratch
Direct collaboration with finance leadership for fast decision-making
Ability to shape how systems and finance actually work together
Build and lead an internal ERP team capability
Core Mission
Translate finance requirements into clear, structured system requirements
Design simple, scalable, and operationally efficient system architecture
Propose best-fit solutions across D365 F&O and integration with other systems
Build and lead the functional/system design layer, and collaborate with other teams
Key Responsibilities
Build Internal ERP Capability
Assist in establishing a functional and technical internal ERP team
Define operating model, standards, and documentation
Train internal members and enable knowledge transfer
Gradually reduce reliance on external vendors
2. Translation from Finance Requirement to System Requirement
Translate accounting and finance requirements into clear system design
Challenge and refine requirements to ensure simplicity and scalability
Design processes that are operationally realistic
Continuously iterate based on real business scenarios
Define how data should flow across systems for maximum efficiency and minimum manual work
Propose optimal integration approaches (Dual Write, OData, DMF, API)
Ensure consistency between finance processes and system behaviour.
3. Hands-On D365 F&O Configuration
Configure Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O)
Set up GL, chart of accounts, financial dimensions, and ledger structures
Implement revenue recognition, accruals/deferrals, and intercompany processes
Configure legal entities, multi-currency, and consolidation-related structures
4. Multi-Entity Global Setup
Design and implement scalable multi-entity structures across regions
Set up intercompany accounting and reconciliation processes
Support multi-currency and FX handling
Ensure system design supports global operations
5. Consolidation & Reporting Support
Design consolidation by using D365 F&O Hard Consolidation
Align system outputs with group reporting requirements
Ensure reporting readiness for IPO readiness requirements
6. Testing & Troubleshooting
Lead UAT and scenario testing
Identify and fix issues directly
Act as a hands-on problem solver
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
Proven ability to translate business/finance requirements into system design
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O
Experience in multi-entity / global environments
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals (GL, accruals, FX)
Ability to clearly explain system design to non-technical stakeholders and produce structured, practical documentation
Hands-on mindset
Fluent in English (Japanese is not required)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing system architecture across multiple systems (ERP + CRM + others)
Experience in fast-scaling or international organizations
Experience building or leading internal ERP teams
Familiarity with US GAAP
Experience with system integration design
What this role is NOT
Not a template-based ERP consulting role
Not limited to standard implementation frameworks
Not a purely advisory position
